Plastic model small ships. Patrol boats, PBR, the terms of USA Navy for small patrol boat used in the US war against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam from March 1966 until the end of 1971

The length of inland waterways of Vietnam is about 3000 km, and because of the lack of a developed network of roads the waterway transport was a major one in the mid-20th century. Naturally, with the outbreak of hostilities, the US Navy decided to start patrolling these waterways. For fulfilling this task small and fast patrol boat was needed. As a result, on the basis of the civilian pleasure boats PBR (Patrol Boat River) MK I was created.
The boats of initial series Mark I appeared in Vietnam in 1965. New modification Mark II was created in 1966. The main differences were reinforced aluminum gunwale and new, freed from the deficiencies of precursor, water jet propulsion. Ultimately about 250 PBRs were used in Vietnam.
PBR team consisted of 4 members: captain, shooter, a mechanic and a sailor. Each member of the team knew an adjacent specialty in order to replace a comrade in case of need.

A bit about the model. It was easy going, but sometimes plaster was needed. Primer and paint – Tamiya. The imitation of water: acrylic sealant and transparent liquid nails (Moment). I had troubles with water, it turned out not how I wanted to (in my head everything was different). The first pancake is always lumpy. Photoetching Eduard, I used almost the entire board (my advice to those who will do River, you can not take it). In my opinion, from the entire board about 4 items are necessary, everything else can be made from scrap materials.
