Hello colleagues!

I bring to your attention the next model-term construction (collected nearly three months, with breaks and its restoration after damage). Construction was carried out in parallel with the “Corsair” G. Bordelona. This is model planes F6F-5 Hellcat «MINSI III», Philippines, in November 1944, the pilot – commander of the air group the CAG-15, the aircraft carrier “Essex» (CV-9) David Mack Campbell (David McCampbell).

The history of the plane model prototype

David Mc Campbell (David McCampbell) – the commander of the joint air group the CAG-15, the aircraft carrier “Essex» (CV-9), won 34 victories:

• 1.06.1944 first victory of the year
• 19.06.1944 year gained 7 victories
• 24.10.1944 year won 9 wins

For his successes in battle June 19 and October 24, 1944 David Makkempbell received the highest US military award – the Medal of Honor. Having gained 34 victories, David Mack Campbell was the best carrier-based aviation ace WWII era. After the war, David Mack Campbell continued his service in the US Navy and retired in 1964.

Model plane construction

Collected as always “out of the box”, with traditional refinements -. Engine refinement wiring, tubing, etc., made an imitation of the hydraulic hoses on the main landing gear. Make a hole in the rear-wheel stand. Added trunks of machine guns from the vector. Remade bronespinka pilot in the cockpit added seatbelts tamievskogo of adhesive tape, the thickness of the removed cooling flaps bonnet. Suspended tank, lamp glass, propeller – removable. Tapes outboard tank of annealed wire.

Colouring. Painting as always without soil and presheydinga. Painted masks without salt (the prototype, without any damage to paintwork).

Paints, varnishes -There acrylic. Wash – Wilder. Oil-Sonet.

Plane model during assembly survived two my fault accident:

1. When inflicted decals, distracted – the model was captured strong children’s pens. I had to take part of technicals with the other set, with a fine brush to restore the inscription «Minsi III» and designations of victories under the lamp and decals on the tail fin.
2. When working with a stripper, model dropped to the floor, long restored landing gear. I cursed myself last words, but like all restored.

The planes model material part:

The engine hood is not corrected – did not want to mess around.
