Kit manufacturer of the kit: Constructo
Vehicle type: Sailing and rowing
Country of origin: United Kingdom
Model scale: 1:100
The story of this model is simple: I was long dreamed of assembling a sailing ship… And then there appeared a serious reason: to restore motility of my left hand after surgery. At first, I couldn’t even hold the housing with my left hand, not talking about bending the rail and gluing it to the housing…
So the model was simplified here and there.
- Instructions only in Spanish and English didn’t help much.
- Some parts from the kit seemed to me poorly executed and were therefore rejected.
- I couldn’t dare painting the housing in black and instead painted it in beautiful dark navy blue color.
- I couldn’t conquer proposed brass wire for decoration and twist it beautifully with one hand and a half. Therefore, I tried to imitate gold decoration with the paint based on PVAC. And I think, I did a little too much…
Shortcomings of this wooden ship model
There remained a lot of questions on the rigging. Unfortunately, in the manual were given instructions of this kind: fix the sails according to the scheme. The scheme was not very distinct because of putting black ropes on other black ropes. Among the photos there were very few close-up photos of sails, though the beginning of the assembly was shown and described, even “chewed” in a too detailed way.
So, here is the imitation of HMS Bounty built only with my right hand!
Thanks to this ship for the restoration of my left hand.
